Selfish Gazillionaires - 25 March 2026

I am disgusted with these selfish California and New York gazillionaires who are leaving their high state income tax states to move to low, or no state income tax states.

California and New York are doing yeoman's work in redistributing tax dollars from the rich to support the poor and to advance green energy projects which will save the earth from burning into a cinder in ten years. Has no one listened to the warnings of Al Gore and Greta Thunberg? Shame (a term Greta would use) on the California tech bros and the hedge fund moguls in NY for walking away from these existential issues.

I cried when I saw New York Governor Kathy Hochul's plaintive entreaty to New York gazillionaires who had moved from New York to Palm Beach, asking them to return to New York and to pay New York State taxes. Kathy Hochul is doing everything she can to make New York a better place... and here these self-dealing gazillionaire bastards abandon her and New Yorkers in need.

I have been extremely dispirited to hear that my friend Frank (though I don't think he's a gazillionaire) express his intent to move his residence from his idyllic location on Long Island Sound to Florida. Frank. Stay. Do your duty. Every little bit counts! Thank goodness friends and Pelham residents the eleemosynary Carl and Mary are staying the course.

What times we live in... where those with resources, endowed or earned, abandon those who have nothing. Disgusting.
