Picto Diary - 28, 29, 30, 31 August 2015 - Guest Entries

Above: Two "unusual" birds on barn walk. 28 August 2015.

Max (30x) telephoto with Lumix. They were far away... difficult (for me) to identify.

Above: The Commodore and The Bishop join for coffee at Wasatch Bagel. 29 August 2015.
We haven't seen one another for over the month before which The Commodore became ill.

As the image shows, the Commodore is looking pretty good!

He's been through 2 chemos of six paced at three week intervals.

Upbeat, he says he's going to beat this thing.

True to form, he showed up in his F type Jag.

For 30 August 2015, Bishop substitutes the report of two friends:

Hello Monk, Desert, Mrs. Driggs, Bishop, and Don,

I wanted to drop a note and let you know that I have accepted a position with [XYZ] in their Global Payments business area, specifically in business-to-business virtual payments area. I'll be transitioning from bank operations to product development, which is something I wanted to explore in the next phase of my career.

Over the last three weeks I had a great time seeing the U.S. I visited Northern Michigan (Traverse City) near the Upper Peninsula. My friend [Angie Baby] and I then drove to New Hampshire/Vermont border in Hanover where we backpacked about 40 miles westward on the Appalachian Trail in Vermont ending up near Woodstock where we hitchhiked until we got a ride back to our car. We then drove to upstate New York near Buffalo and Lake Erie to attend a wedding - unusual for a city girl like me to see the wedding party arrive in camouflage jeep and where pre-wedding activities included shooting guns on range and driving large John Deere tractors and bulldozers. On the 25 hour drive back to Utah, (through New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming over two days) we stopped at the Iowa State Fair (Don - with due respect to the Minnesota State Fair, the Iowa one seems a bigger production), a day after the presidential candidates stopped by to stump to the Iowans. My travels ended with a weekend in Bicknell, UT / Capitol Reef.

I start August 31 (so soon!). I'm ready to work on productive, exciting projects again.

At the top of one mountain there was an apple tree from which I picked a snack and thought about the many more miles ahead.

I jumped off a 30 foot bridge after a day-long hike. Water was refreshing! Scary standing at the top!

Camouflage jeep + tuxedos = bang up wedding!

………………..Just another ho-hum weekend in Grand Lake, Colorado. (Thought we would add to Steve’s blog. Hope all is well.)
