Randy Favero, LSDM's University of Utah outreach person, orchestrated the lunch meet-up and campus tour to explore expanded interaction between "the U" and LSDM.

Jimmy rented the Honda 175cc motorcycle for a day for $10.00. The kid at left, Jimmy's guide, rode pillion on an eight-hour, harrowing, ride from Kathmandu to the Nepalese/Chinese border and back.

Last night, 30 May 2026, Jimmy and wife Jeanine, Salt Lake County residents, came over to show us an 8 mm video clip with scenes from Jimmy's 1972 visit, as a 17-year-old, to India and Nepal. We, Jimmy's hosts, were just starting our career with Citibank, assigned to New Delhi We were still in our twenties at that time. The difference in ages between Jimmy and us seems weird today when we are all, as grandparents, more or less in the same age cohort! Mind you, I am still the only "Silent" in the mix!

Now Jimmy and Jeanine, via their five high achieving kids, have fifteen grands.

TIMDT part time "au paired" Jimmy and his four brothers while a student at BYU 1967 to 1969. This, in exchange for room and board from the boys' parents, Dean and Jackie Redd Wilson (Redds of Blanding, UT repute. Note: Blanding is where CD3 congressional candidate Phil Lyman is from as well).

Jimmy, now ten rears past retirement from a tech career (Hewlitt Packard, and his own start up), is a ski instructor at Solitude. Jeanine, a BYU graduate, was a former nutritionist. She has ten of her fifteen grands nearby and divides her time between the grands and yoga.

TIMDT and Mwah (sic) roll our eyes at one another about how, back in 1972, we pushed this young, Happy Valley (Provo, UT nickname) kid out on his own, in Indian pajama clothes, riding in the third-class section of Indian Railway trains, for two weeks with only $200 in his pocket. The experience turned out to be seminal in Jimmy's life, but I don't think we had sufficient realization at the time of the risks of sending him out on his own to rural India in thin cotton PJ's with only two hundred bucks in his pocket at that age.

TIMDT and Mwah (sic) are very fortunate to have as near life-long friends the Wilson brothers and their adopted sister.
