Picto Diary - 22 August 2015 - The Meet

"The Meet" set up. Image captured, telephoto, from my 24th floor Murano Hotel room, about 7:30 AM.

The amazing motor! 1047 cc, 24 valve, twin-cam, air-cooled inline 6... transverse mounted.

This bike was only manufactured for three years... 79 to 82. It was Honda's flagship in its day, but, was outsold by Honda's CB900F.

As a promotional gimmick, the bike was used by the traveling marshals at the 79 and 80 Isle of Man TT. I attended the 2015 TT in June.

The unusual museum building is in the background.

Galt restored a 1991 Paris Dakar. A beautiful job, in my opinion. But, he decided not to enter the bike into the competition.

The Seattle Cossacks is a group of precision stunt riders that harken back to the days of drill teams from the '30's and 40's.

The Seattle Cossacks ride vintage 1930 era and 1940 era Harley Davidson motorcycles.

I'd never seen anything like this. Right out of the past. Highly appropriate for a vintage motorcycle rally. These guys, many with beer guts, were very, very talented. I'll bet they have a lot of fun putting all this together.... keeping their motorcycles running, learning the stunts, making appearances etc.

Mark Zenor - Chairman, CEO - The Meet
Skip Moscorro - Principal/CEO MotoDiscovery Motorcycle Tours
Burt Richmond - Former CEO - The Meet; current volunteer, The Meet.

Note from Diane: Fun night and group, captured on film. I had this modified a bit – reducing the amount of table and lightening it. What a nice blend of Museum leadership, retired ACM Board member, mighty Meet Volunteers, exceptional media gurus, motorcycle enthusiasts…and all our friends. Very special!

Dinner was fun.

I had good conversations with David Searle, editor in chief of Motorcycle Consumer News, Clement Salvatori, editor at large, Cycle World, both of whom I met for the first time.

Most of the others I knew. It was fun to catch up with everyone.

Addendum:

The Aussies and Kiwis have gone to Oregon to help battle the bush fires.

Thanks. This was pointed out to me by traveling companion, Earp, who is also a volunteer EMT/firefighter in his eastern Washington jurisdiction.
