Above: Tom DeLeon (top) and Treat Williams (below). Images hung at Wasatch Bagel. 06 December 2025.

Seated beside the above images today at Wasatch Bagel I was reminded of some LSDM memories.

In the early aughts for five or six years, Tom DeLeon, former All Pro Center for the Cleveland Browns, was a two to three day a week regular at LSDM. Tom was a touring motorcyclist. I once accompanied him on a ride from Park City to Moab where we dined together at the Moab Brewery. I (BMW K1200RS) spent the night in Moab and rode over to the Western Slope of Colorado the next day. After our dinner at the Moab Brewery, Tom (BMW R1100RT) rode all night across the rez and down to Tempe where he watched his son play in an ASU Sun Devils football game. I confess to having done three or four all night motorcycle rides here in the west, but, until the Moab experience, I hadn't appreciated Tom's iron butt tenacity as a serious touring motorcycle rider. Tom's wife Mindy was head of the Park City Mountain Resort ski patrol for a few years in the early aughts.

LSDM started having speakers in the early aughts. Park City resident, Hollywood actor, Treat Williams was LSDM's second invited speaker and first no show. We took an image of an empty chair and used that for our blank page speaker notes. In fairness to Treat, LSDM really didn't have any kind of a track record in having speakers back then. Treat's invite would have been something easily forgotten. Treat Williams was killed in a motorcycle accident in Vermont on 04 June 2023. Having had over 800 speakers since inception in the early aughts, LSDM has only had one other no show. Name withheld. But 'Cake was his sponsor and 'Cake has suffered an untold amount of abuse over the years from having failed to deliver a promised speaker. There has been a dozen or so cancellations, most of which were rebooked.

Guzzi stopped by Wasatch Bagel this AM and informed me that there was to be an 80th birthday celebration for John Hainey at No Name Saloon. 2:00 PM. John is one of the last of Park City's authentic ski bums. Guzzi is doing a good job himself to fill the growing ski bum void in Park City. DOT also stopped by for a chat this AM. DOT and Mwah (sic) celebrated what looked like the first significant snowfall outside the windows of Wasatch Bagel.

Above: Andy Beerman, former Park City Mayor, and parrot. Some place recently in Panama. 06 December 2025.

I lifted this image off of Andy's Facebook Page. I thot it was a good image.... the parrot and all.
Andy was a 6x LSDM speaker from 2011 to 2021. He was assiduous at follow-up. One time he was asked by LSDM what the numbers were on the Osguthorpe barn. He replied that he didn't know but would get back to us. He came in the next day with a printout of the numbers.

STEVE'S RESTAURANT MINI REVIEWS FIVE5EEDS. PARK CITY, UTAH. BREAKFAST. 06 December 2025.
Look. I get your stich. Avocado toast. Turkish eggs. Fru fru. Beverly Hills. Bondi Beach. Ordinarily not my cup of tea.
I'm more of a Nora's (Wilson, WY) person or a Maple Counter (Walla Walla, WA) person.
You have some great food items. Your oatmeal is fabulous, and your zucchini laced chocolate chip cookies are unparalleled. I will come back for both.
Still, until you open at 7:00 AM, serve ice water, toast pre buttered, sealed jam servings, and corn beef hash, you can't qualify as a "go to" breakfast place.
Also, to qualify as "go to," you must have multi person, separate, men's and women's bathrooms with paper towels. Blowers...meh...not adequate.
Congratulations on a great start, though.

Also in image, Kathy Sonzini, wife of LSDM member Guzzi, who captured this image. John Haney is one of the last of the authentic ski bums of Park City. Guzzi, though, who took this image, is at least a ski bum pretender. TWO3 could fill the position, but he is too much of a gentleman to affect the ski bum persona.

STEVE'S BREAKFAST RESTAURANT MINI REVIEWS. BISHOP'S, ST. GEORGE, UTAH
Mid-market shopping center setting. Plenty of parking. Sincerely friendly, long term employed waitresses who call you Honey, Sweetie, and Dear. Very comfortable and not uppity ambiance. Regular, no ask coffee refills.
Opens at 7:00 AM. Multi person access to separate men's and women's restrooms. 7 to 8, lottsa ball cap sporting ROMEOs.
Ice water...big red plastic glass, immediate delivery.
Interior: Forgettable, bland 60's basic set up by a contactor and not an interior designer. Plastic flowers. Dollar Store knick knacks on wall.
Folgers standard, not Starbucks dark roast.
American breakfast basic. Anti gourmet. Anti fru fru. Avocado toast? What's that? Sysco not CHEF'STORE.
Quaker oatmeal, but they make it right. They'll do the bacon to crispy crumbly in the deep fryer if you ask them. Excellent bacon. To go back for!
A "GO TO" breakfast place? Not quite. Heinz catsup, and that's good. But jam not in individually served containers and no corn beef hash on the menu.
The best Utah version of this basic breakfast genre is hash slinging Over the Counter in Salt Lake City (Millcreek)... a definite "go to" place.
Bishop's, despite not reaching "go to" status, is very much worth the stop. Good value. Pre tip, $12.00 for bacon, oatmeal and coffee, my usual order.
