Addendum:
Thanks for the great summary of a remarkable summer. You and TIMDT gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to come "stay" with you for the summer, for which I have always been very grateful. There are more unforgettable stories from the Summer of 1972. They need retelling as well.

That’s terrific!
I did a ride on a Royal Enfield Bullet 500 from Moosharie India In Himalchal Pradesh in the Himilayan foothills to Ley in Ladakh. I liked the bike so much, I bought one back in Jersey when I got home.
I understand harrowing riding single. I would never consider riding two up on such roads. God bless them both, and glad to see they survived in good order.

2008 I rode a Royal Enfield thumper from Siliguri, West Bengal through the length of Bhutan, then south to Guwahati, Assam. SDT
Lovely memories and recalling positive influence which Margaret and you had on Jimmy.

Absolutely loved the story of your connection to Jimmy and his family. Yesterday Gina and I FaceTimed with Sam (son), Theo and his extended family. Sam is in France visiting and celebrating Theo’s graduation as a Dentist. Theo presents and defends his doctoral thesis today. Back in 2017, we got wind that there was opportunity to house (for the school year) a French high school exchange student whose host family had backed out at the last minute. In fact, we only had one day to decide and fill out the paperwork. Sam and Theo were both juniors in high school and we decided to go for it. To say it was and continues to be a wonderful experience is an understatement. Theo has traveled with us all over the US and Europe; his parents and sister have stayed here with us and vice versa multiple times. Theo will be at Sam’s graduation next spring. I told Sam, Theo and family yesterday while on the call that little did I know or could I easily imagine, while standing with two 17y old teens in my kitchen, encouraging them to get the dishes done, that I’d get be congratulating a Dentist and Physicist and 2 fine young men.
Such a bounty for all involved!

Sibs,
Jim is featured this week in Steve’s pictorial diary! Steve is a fabulous writer and storyteller.
Indeed, an astounding, epic journey for Jim to make at such a young age! Fearless (naive?), really.
FYI.
