No Compromises with TDS

I've received a coupla (sic) dozen similar notes over the years (scroll). This note from a former business colleague, retired, with a successful career behind him and charitable non-profit responsibilities (a good guy) was sent in response to what seems to me to be a fairly innocuous endorsement by me of DJT's cabinet appointees (scroll further). TDS is real. Lottsa hardwired people out there will only judge from their self-professed position of moral superiority and not engage in real discussion or debate. The writer was on a blind list, so his name was not visible to others.

I was in a book club discussion a few months ago "Washington's Crossing" by David Hackett Fischer | Stephen DeWitt Taylor  where I drew a comparison between George Washington and Donald Trump, both of whom avoided by a whisker being killed by a bullet.  My point was, how would the world be different had the shots hit their mark?  One of the participants, totally avoiding my point, said, "Trump was not hit by a bullet."  "Was the Butler, PA event contrived?" I asked.  Again, avoiding the point, like an automaton he repeated, "Trump was not hit by a bullet."  TDS.  The discussion moved on to something else.  The gist of my question was acknowledged by the participants but not discussed in more detail as I hoped it would be.

I like to speculate in hypotheticals.  For example, take the WWII Battle of Midway.  How would the world have been different had Admiral Nagumo not taken extra time (against Yamamoto's orders) to arm his carrier fighters with bombs when they were at the ready with torpedoes?  By having his planes armed with bombs and not torpedoes Nagumo missed an opportunity to take out the US fleet.  Because of Nagumo's wrong decision, The US won the Battle of Midway.
But, I digress.  Many on the left will not engage in political discussion.  They will only scorn the other side from their self-declared moral high ground.  That's why I've maintained for some time that compromise with the left is not possible.  One side has to lose and one side has to win.

Steve,

Please take me off this list.  If you ever realize the gracious mistake you have made by supporting DJT, please let me know.

Otherwise, do us both a favor. Please don’t talk to me and I won’t talk to you.

You seem like such a smart guy.  So sad.
