China, during the 2008/2009 financial crises injected stimulus into its economy. They also did this in 2015 and 2016. This time, China will sit tight. There is too much of a debt overhang in their economy, and, the social control over their citizens is now at almost North Korea levels. China no longer has any need to palliate a restive population.

May 2020
Matthew Goetz, BlockTower Capital speaks to La Société Deux Magots (LSDM), a Park City, UT ROMEO group, 5th May 2020 via Zoom.
We are more bullish now than when we launched the fund in 2017. We are on the path to broader adoption and value creation with significant runway until we see the asset class reach into the trillions of dollars in value (from around just $250 billion today – smaller than several single companies in the S&P500), and the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies settle at an equilibrium. We expect the second half of this year to be a significantly bullish period for the asset as the macro narrative of BTC as an inflation hedge and the micro narrative of technological enhancements take hold.
Loren Yager speaks to La Société Deux Magots (LSDM), a Park City, UT ROMEO group, 12th May 2020 via Zoom.
If you assume that growth will be 1 percent, it will take considerably longer than ten years to get back to the pre-COVID levels of GDP and employment. If you assume that growth will be 2 percent, it takes about 7 years, and if you assume 4 percent growth in those measures, it will take until 2024. US GDP growth is generally lower than it was in prior decades because of slow growth in the labor force growth is slowing, and productivity growth rates are also lower than they were in prior decades. While quarterly growth rates or employment increases might be volatile in the recovery from the very steep drops in 2020 Q2, it is hard to see them adding to 4%+ annual growth in GDP or employment that would be needed to give us the quick fix or what has been called a V-shaped recovery.
Maurice (Moe) F. Hickey, CEO of Voices for Utah Children, https://www.utahchildren.org, speaks to La Société́ Deux Magots (LSDM), a Park City, UT ROMEO group, 13th May 2020 via Zoom. My three main concerns are children’s education, healthcare and childcare. I’m concerned on all three fronts. All three face cutbacks and with 15%+ unemployment, families will suffer. There are good spots, like the use of technology, to make education and healthcare provision more efficient, but they are outweighed by the shadow costs like child mental health, where Utah was already a community struggling to cope.

Lessons from the farm. Dad taught me how to irrigate... you could let in too much water, or you could let in too little i.e. the water wouldn't make it to the end of the row. I have applied that lesson to my life... it’s important to get the water to the end of the row, not short of the row and not overflowing beyond the row.

Since 2002, the United States has spent $ 1 Trillion in assisting the Afghan government. The hidden costs of caring for America's injured soldiers will exceed $1 Trillion and be with us for a long time. Prior appropriation doctrine. "First in time, first in right." The first person to take a quantity of water and put it to beneficial use has a higher priority than a subsequent user. Just because water may exist on your property does not give you right to use it.

This is a good year to take a hard look at the Utah Attorney General's race. Our attorney general needs to follow the will of the people. The current AG does not follow the will of the people. All Chinese are not the same. China is not monolithic. All Chinese are not crooks. All Chinese are not communists. Americans need to work harder to engage with a complex, multifaceted China to determine what China really wants. We need long term engagement, not stop gap "solutions." Without constructive engagement, will come rising tensions, where China will ramp up the propaganda machine to discredit our values and increase turmoil.

Also the traffic bottle neck at SR 248 is not getting any better. I'd also put a new transportation center in at Richardson Flats and connect that center with an electric bus only corridor along the 100 foot wide Rail Trail right of way. I'd keep a walking path along that right-ofway. Heck... a train used to go through there. In the early days we remember the concrete raw material deliveries by train into Park City via the Rail Trail corridor. It’s not like we haven't done something like that before.
Dana Williams, Mayor Park City, UT - 2002 to 2014, speaks to LSDM 24 September 2020 - Via Zoom.

Melana Stevens, Democrat candidate (unopposed) for Summit County, Council, speaks to La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM), 25 September 2020
Regional collaboration is essential. Rapid growth sans planning, regional collaboration will not lead to a good place. I'd like to see a regional housing authority... a regional transportation authority.

All judges appearing for reappointment by Summit County voters in 2020 have received a unanimous "recommend" vote from all JPEC members. The judges take very seriously the JPEC review process. They know that a bad rating could jeopardize their reappointment. The review process itself serves as an incentive for judges to adjudicate responsibly at all times.

Before Argentina, I lived life on a shoestring. I was a waiter in college. Everybody ought to do that (waiter). You learn to work hard... you learn to serve customers... you learn about bad bosses... Sales teaches so much. You need to learn to organize, prioritize and set goals. In sales, you have to put your head in the other person's head.

John "Frugal" Dougall, Auditor, State of Utah, speaks to La Société Deux Magots (LSDM) 09 November 2020, via Zoom.
We're a flashlight that looks where the public can't see. It’s our job to call balls and strikes... not make policy. But, when we see inconsistencies we will report them. I'm not partisan as an auditor. Though I am known as a political conservative, I have a lot of support from the Democratic Party side. Largest state wide Republican vote getter ever.
