La Société Deux Magots (LSDM) is a non-partisan ROMEO (retired old men eating out) group which meets daily, at 7:00 AM at Wasatch Bagel in Park City, UT. LSDM members are the rightful intellectual heirs of a group of authors and artists (Hemingway, Joyce, Sartre, Picasso, Camus, de Beauvoir) who met daily at Cafe Deux Magots, in Paris, France in the 1930's. http://www.LSDM-Parkcity.com

February 2012
Roger Lipton, blue shirt with back to the counter, addresses La Societe Deux Magots, 06 February 2013. Roger Lipton, based in New York City, operates a hedge fund partnership valued at $40 million, for his own account and for friends and family.
We have fundamental reasons for owning gold, not rooted in emotions or chart reading, but based on literally thousands of years of worldwide acceptance of gold as a medium of exchange and store of value. Over the centuries, going back to biblical times, god has maintaned its purchasing power while an untold number of paper currencies ('fiat" i.e. "unbacked") have come and gone. the paper currencies' lives were defined invariably by how long it took the politicians of the time to debase or dilute the unbacked medium of exchange, and that continues to be the case.

Education platforms such as CANVAS, through facilitating MOOCs, with interactive capability, and multiple paced learning potential, have the potential of revolutionizing the way we learn.

Gordon C. Strachan, who worked for H. R. Haldeman, Nixon's chief of staff, as White House liaison to the Committee to Re Elect the President, and our speaker today, was the only one of the Watergate Seven who had his indictment dropped.
October 2012
On 09 October 2012, Chris Robinson, was speaker at La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM). Chris, a candidate for the Utah state legislature - District 54, is in his second term on the Summit County Council.
Chris billed himself as a consensus builder. There is a need for balance in the legislature, according to Chris. He said he has a proven track record in resolving problems via consensus and cooperation... eg. the power of "AND."

11 October 2012, Bob O'Connor, principal of Park City High School was guest speaker at La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM).
STEM is very important today. However, one doesn't need to start too early to be an engineer. The soft skills... collaboration, teamwork etc. are also important to a student's effectiveness down the road. Liberal arts is important. Reading and writing clearly are critical skills that need to be learned to supplement a STEM education.

Kraig Powell, (R) incumbent candidate for Utah state legislature, district 54, was speaker at La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM) on 20 October 2012.
He is an outspoken reformer in the Republican caucus. He takes no campaign contributions from lobbyists, special interest groups or corporations. He has introduced legislation to require open caucuses. He has fought what he sees as extremist bills like abstinence-only education.

30 October 2012, Dee W. Smith, candidate (D) for Utah Attorney General was speaker at La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM).
"The AG's office should not be an office where its leaders play politics. The AG and his prosecutor team should prosecute crime. That's what I do best."
December 2012
19 December 2012, Leon Daniel "Ohl Man," was speaker at La Societe Deux Magots (LSDM). He was accompanied by his wife, Ann Daniel.
In Libya, in the early 1970's, as chief reservoir engineer for Occidental Petroleium (Oxy), he managed reservoir development of four giant fields using advanced recovery techniques. Instar D Field ultimate recovery reached 85% of the oil in place using high pressure miscible gas.

Asked why she has not thrown her own hat into the ring for the position of City Manager, Diane noted that she felt she didn't have enough experience yet. "Bakaly, she said, "was a rock star in the city management world." She learned a lot from Tom Bakaly, but felt she needed more experience before taking on such a challenge.

Captain Wolford had infantry combat experience in Iraq (2006/7) in Iraq as a battle captain. He attended flight school at fort Rucker, Alabama (2008/9) to gain proficiency flying Kiowa Warrior close air support helicopters. He was an OH58 (Kowa Warrior) troop commander in Afghanistan in 2010/11. For his final nine months in Afghanistan he was the principal staff aid to one of the five Afghanistan regional commander, two star generals (US).
