DJT in Iran. Ever the Genius - 16 March 2026

Methinks DJT and the US Marines are going to tamp Iran Hormuz Strait tricks down. I watched DJT's press conference earlier today. DJT appears to be acting in a way so as to slough off his critics and ignore conventional wisdom saying he will take an off ramp in the Iran War to preserve political viability. If true, this is a good thing, IMHO.

I'm thinking that DJT may see neutering Iran being the seminal accomplishment of his presidency, perceived short term political consequences be damned. The fanatical regime in Iran, with its intent to use nukes, represents an existential threat to the US and Israel and must be eliminated.

The Europe wing of Western Culture has already been "conquered" by Islam. In another part of Europe, Vlad, the vanquisher of Grozny, has Russia's Islamism problem under control, via kinetic means not unlike the approach currently being used by DJT. I was in Grozny in 2014. There was nothing "old" there left standing. All buildings and infrastructure were new. Vlad knows how to take care of existential threats to Russian (read Western) Culture. Along with Russia, the US and Israel, holding out against a restive Caliphate, represent last stand holdouts in defense of Western Civilization. Their mutual antipathy towards the threat of Islamism is one of the reasons (marginalizing China is another) Russia and the US should be working together, not at odds with one another.

Asking the beneficiaries of Gulf oil to help police the strait is a brilliant maneuver, akin to DJT's successful effort to make the flaccid NATO membership to step up with more money.

DJT should cancel his upcoming meet with Xi if Xi doesn't send ships to the Strait of Hormuz to protect China's oil supply. DJT is reshaping the world, John Mearsheimer, Douglas McGregor, Danny Davis, and Peter Zeihan be damned.
